Cogent3D, Inc. has been awarded a contract to assist USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service to re-engineer their mobile workforce with a new Mobile Conservation Planner App using iCropTrak to allow NRCS staff to spend more time with client collaboration and conservation efforts in the field.

The Natural Resources Conservations Service is re-engineering their core client facing business processes. The contract is to identify improvements to their current application systems to improve work quality and consistency, reduce program cycle times and improve the effectiveness of the agency by allowing it to “get more conservation on the ground.”

To achieve these goals, NRCS will re-engineer the planning and programmatic data, reduce redundancy in planning tools and data entry, segregate planning and financial functions, streamline current workflows to free up resources and make new tools that are easier to learn and operate for the conservation agents.

iCropTrak was chosen for the new Mobile Conservation Planner portion of these efforts because it can help NRCS achieve these goals as well as help:

Redefine “work” as an activity, not a “location”.

Enhance collaboration between workers and leadership.

Provide information in-hand and on-demand everywhere.

Reduce time spent travelling and commuting.

Improve custom

generic viagra online

er satisfaction thru increased customer accessibility and accelerated service delivery.

iCropTrak is a user customizable mobile application designed for in-field farming applications including field boundary management, scouting, sampling, documenting and tracking farming operations. All this power is easy-to-learn and easy-to-operate by design, so you can spend more time farming and less time managing your data. Unique to this technology is the ability for the software to be customized per field-user based on a number of variables including their roles and permissions in the organization and based on personal preferences like language. iCropTrak comes with Amazon cloud support for centralized data and user management, reporting and collaboration.

Cogent3D, Inc. is teamed with Analytical Consulting Group, LLC and C3 Federal Systems Corporation for the multiple year program.

Tucson, 20 March 2013 – iCropTrak iPad Farm Management App announces iCropTrak Version 3.1 with live weather station data added to every measurement and field; NOAA historical data for predicting future weather per field; and new “Info Page” technology for in field customized display of your information.

iCropTrak is a map centric field data collection application that lets you turn your historical data and current paper data collection processes into digital ones called “measurements.” iCropTrak has always told you for every measurement: a) what was collected, b) who collected it, c) when they collected it, and d) where they collected it and now adds e) the weather when collected.

No more having to remember to separately capture weather for regulatory filings. iCropTrak automatically captures the weather at the location and time of data entry. It is so easy you could start your own big data program to analyzing how weather affects your soil samples results, pests management program, growing schedule, and much more with the additional data.

Ever driven to a field to find the crop not ready for the task you have planned for that day? We have, so we added to iCropTrak the ability to archives daily weather summaries for all your fields, crops, and weather stations as well as access NOAA historical data. This data is used to calculate GDD (growing degree days) for user defined growth intervals over the entire growing season for each of your crops, weeds, and pests. The results are updated daily and then presented as calendars dates, so they are easy to use when advance planning when you will scout, spray,

cheap viagra online

and harvest this season.

Farming is Data Management, so finding the right piece of data to support a decision is important. Displaying historical measurement data has always been one of iCropTrak’s strengths, but we are always looking for easier ways for clients to get just the information they want, presented the way they want, and while being simple to use and understand. Info Pages represents the next revolution in user customizable data presentation and decision-aids. Allowing people to build quickly in the field, data presentations that have in the past have required hard coded complex custom reports.

Info Pages works by allowing the iPad user to select from all of the existing measurement data items to create a new combined and formatted data presentation for each selected field on the map. Info Pages 1.0 supports:

Presenting the last value entered for a data item

Determining the Minimum, Maximum, and Average value entered for a data item

Summing a series of data item entries over a date range (think harvest tickets)

Accumulating values from two data items (think silo or warehouse inventory)

With more formatting options to come during the 2013-growing season or we can build them to your specifications under contract.

iCropTrak version 3.1 mobile and cloud software represents another series of exciting new features that enable our customers to do even more while in the field and away from the office.

The term Farm Plan is sometimes used as a vehicle of communication for operations budgets, farm water quality management plans, sustainable practice certifications and, among many other examples, if you are a dairy farmer, manure management plans. We see Farm Plan offered as an umbrella term to refer to the organizational structure for many different farm administration programs. At the end of the day, what we are aiming at is a document or documentation method that indicates what tasks/operations will be performed, the sequence of the tasks and the approximate calendar period when the task will be completed. How do farming company's wrap their arms around this today – Word, Excel, Powerpoint?

Other industries have been here before. The Gantt Chart has been used in construction related projects and other industrial applications for decades but we rarely see this common scheduling document buried in the stack of paper on the passenger seat of many farm pickup trucks. Gantt Charts provide an easily understood view of a sequence of tasks, their timing and their estimated duration. A farming operations Farm Plan, or any of the programs mentioned above, could fit seamlessly into the Gantt Chart metaphor and give farm managers an opportunity to communicate the approximate timing and sequence of each activity to everyone who needs to know. Yes, there are limitations to Gantt Charts – they take up space

buy research paper

and convey little detail for example – but they are also easy to understand and relatively easy to construct.

Each crop has its own rhythm and set of management challenges that are linked to the prevailing climate and geographic location. Farming operations generally need to be completed in a specific order and experienced managers have a good understanding of how long each activity is expected to take. These are precisely the attributes that an array of activity planning (project management) software tools support. Computer software makes managing and updating the content for a series of chronologically related activities, a project plan, quick and easy and allows output to be delivered conveniently or turned into paper at the click of a button. You may be just a short project management class away from being able to quickly and easily document all the Farm Plans that any water quality control agency or sustainable practices auditor requires.

Much of the data that is collected while in the farm field is focused on the here and now. Things like current growth stage, pest and disease pressure and daily time sheets are all current events. For most, the extent of a forward looking data management program is the establishment of work orders for spray, nutrient management and irrigation events. Sure, our friendly controller or accountant has an annual budget on his or her desk, but, we probably only see or hear about it at year end when all the costs are accumulated, the i's dotted and the t's crossed.

Perhaps our shortened operational field of vision is a function of the limited set of convenient and intuitive data management tools that can help paint the bigger season to season picture. Maybe the “can I just get all my data in one place” lament is the factor that persists Excel as the common denominator. How would this picture change if the data management tools you used were adaptable to your workflow and field data requirements instead of the other way around? Tablet computing technology has opened the window on these challenges and provided the platform to enter data and get answers “in one place”.Plan, Schedule, Track and Analyze are no longer constrained to different departments, different times of year and different data management environments.

The latest release of iCropTrak, available in the App Store for Apple iPad tablet devices, delivers an easy to use Farm Plan data management interface for documenting expected seasonal farming operations. Farm Plan content can be assembled in chronological sequence and viewed in a calendar format on a field by field basis for portions of a season or for an annual crop cycle. Plans can be duplicated and applied to subsequent seasons allowing users to easily propagate optimal practices. The user customizable interface gives farming company’s the opportunity to establish re-usable templates and also delivers the framework necessary to develop and refine detailed activity based costing budgets. The patent pending interface uses the concept of a virtual binder to let users add digital pages to the plan and easily arrange them.

Farm Plan documentation is regarded as a continuous improvement and sustainability best practice and can be used to keep farming operations on track throughout the season. The iCropTrak interface provides capabilities to include operations budget information that can be combined with the resource scheduling and tracking features of iCropTrak to give real-time budget variance reporting capabilities. Updates to next year’s plan can be made in the field today whil

The iCropTrak application can be used to digitize field boundaries and add new map information to the system. Once the field boundaries have been digitized the information is saved to the local iCT database on the iPad. It can then be synchronized to the database server where it will be shared with other users in the organization.

There are other methods available for getting geographic data into the system that may originate as file content created in GIS tools.

Users begin the boundary digitization process by selecting the parent geographic asset (usually a farm) in the system. New field boundary data is entered by using your finger to “trace” the field layout or

buy cheap priligy

use the built in GPS receiver. It is also possible to create the new parent asset on the iPad or iPhone.

iCropTrak supports the management of geographic data in layers and zones. A layer typically contains layout information like field boundaries or line information like waterways, roads and irrigation lines.

A zone is a subset of a polygon layer. This might constitute an area of a field or block that has been impacted by frost, or, an area in a field that has a particular soil characteristic. There are several tools available in the system that allow regular shapes to be used for creating zones. For example, a circle tool can be used to mark out a center pivot field.
